Where’s Your Backbone

Share Article

We as Christians carry a double standard. We say to the wondering backslider, you need to tough it out, do what it takes, change and change some more and then  if the backslider does not respond quick enough we turn to the spouse that is making better choices and say to them, you need to just move on.

There is a verse in the Bible that we quote all the time. It’s the, He who began a good work verse.

I see Jesus up in heaven with his arms out stretched saying, “are they not going to let me finish what I started?” Looking at Gideon saying,”Do my people not know what I am capable of?” Talking to Jonah, “did they not read about the big fish I told to come get you!”

What about the coin in the fishes mouth

And even the donkey that talked

What about the fact that I was dead

And then I came back to life

Come on now!

You got to have some backbone here!

This is God we are talking about

And…

He can do anything!

Jeremiah 32:27

I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

Oh there is one more verse that God just spoke to my heart. Oh…it is so good friends so good! I remember when he gave it to me Darin seemed to far away yet it gave me confidence that God was at work!

Isaiah 46:10b-13a

My purpose will stand and I will do all that I please.

From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far off land a man to fulfill my purpose.

What I have said that will I bring about:

What I have planned that will I do

Listen to me you stubborn hearted,

You who are far from righteousness,

I am bringing my righteousness near,

It is not far away;

And my salvation will not be delayed.
