If God has asked you to be faithful in a difficult marriage, then this is the blog for you!

Should I Pack it Up

Share Article

I wrote this post back in July but have not published it until now. I hope and pray it encourages you!

If you are in a marriage that is AWFUL!

The kind of marriage that is so bad, if you let them, your friends and family would drive themselves over to your house and pack your bags for you.

If that is the kind of marriage you are in, and you are reading this post, it is possible that this is no accident and God has huge plans for you!

Plans that are far more important than you ever could have imagined! Plans that do not just encompass you and your spouse and even your kids but God has called you to either break the cycle of divorce in your family line or he is calling you to make sure the cycle never ever has a chance to take root in your familes lineage.

Listen to me this is the truth!

This is your Goliath!

This is not some strange accident that has happened because you got married too young or you married the wrong person!

NO that is not it!

This is your Goliath!

And God is going to help you just like he helped King David in the Bible!

So the answer to that question

Is this

No

You shouldn’t pack it up

But you should instead

Unpack your bags, break down the boxes, put everything away,

All your silverware, all your clothes, and pots and pans

Start a pot of coffee

And sit yourself down

Begin to tell God who loves you and thinks you’re capable of this

That

Your in

Your all in

And your not giving up!

Tell him your going to fix your eyes on him and refuse to budge!

I believe with all my heart that there will be a day when your children will sit with their own children and even their own grandchildren on the front porch of their houses and they will tell them this amazing story…your story, your family’s story! How long ago, in 2013, their Grandparents and Great Grandparents decided to throw caution to the wind and believe God for a miracle! Your children will tell them the story of how the modern day ‘Goliath’ came and taunted you and mocked you and threatened to destroy their family’s heritage. They will all sit and reflect on the goodness of God and how it all started one day in July when you, yes you, just you, decided to unpack!

I just LOVE it when God reminds me about a verse in the BIble when I am writing! Oh I love it! The thing that is so cool about it is I remember the part of the verse that is quoted often so when look it up and read the verses surrounding it and I see that it relates to what I just wrote about, I get excited!!!

This passage of scripture is about Joseph, the one who had the coat of many colors and who’s brothers threw him into a pit, who became a slave and ended up in prison. Probably thought he might never get out of prison let alone see his family again. This is what he is telling his family.

Genesis 50:20

But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?” You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children. And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.

Joseph stayed in Egypt, along with all his father’s family. He lived a hundred and ten years and saw the third generation of Ephraim’s children. Also the children of Makir son of Manasseh were placed at birth on Joseph’s knees.”

Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” And Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”

So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

You see Joseph knew it wasn’t just about him, it wasn’t even just about him and his brothers, it wasn’t even just about him, his brothers, their family and the 2nd and third generations but it was beyond that. God was setting the stage for Israel to be delivered out of Egypt!

If you continue to think small and that what your going through is just about you and your spouse you will not make it! It is not worth the pain if its just about you. your spouse, and your little family! It is about the saving of MANY lives through your life, your spouses life, your children’s lives, your grand children, and their children. This is big and this is no accident! The fight you are in has huge eternal significance! I am telling you it does!
