If God has asked you to be faithful in a difficult marriage, then this is the blog for you!

My heart is dead.

Share Article

My heart breaks for those who feel they have absolutely no feelings for their spouse. Their heart is dead inside. Someone they thought they once loved so much. Now there isn’t even a spark of hope. Often times the enemy of their soul has come to them and told them they never loved them in the first place.

The reason my heart breaks for them is because God requires the same amount of commitment from them as He does the spouse that is wanting it desperately to work. Can you imagine having to go up a steep mountain that you know in your heart you will never ever be able to climb and yet you have to try again and again and again.

I used to be of the thinking that you fake it until you make it. I do not think that way anymore. Especially when it comes to deep marriage issues. There is a reason your heart died and you have to figure it out. You and God have to figure it out. There could be so many different reasons but it’s your job to find out why that mountain looks so impossible.

The Stadium

I remember a picture God gave me in prayer one day in one of the difficult seasons of our marriage. I saw myself at a large stadium with people sitting in the stands. We were all watching a game on the field. It was Darin and God out there playing and it wasn’t looking very good. So much so that everyone was getting up and leaving. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that afternoon and said, you sit in the stands and wait right here. I was sitting all by myself but I knew He was with me. He did not show me anything else. I’m so glad I stayed! I’m so grateful my sweet husband didn’t give up and walk off that field. He stayed and he and God figured it out. May our Mighty God give you the grace and the endurance to stay and figure it out!

This is a verse God gave me  October 28 2007.

Romans 15:4-6

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You have not heard from Darin yet but you will. He is so sweet, cheering my on with this blog. He is completely confident that God has given me things that are very important to share and willing to be open about it. He too is burdened for those who struggle. We are now with one heart and mouth glorifying God. How amazing is this. You must know both Darin and I understand the risk in staying in the game whether you are in it or sitting in the stands. We pray that you will take it!
